Binding of platinum drugs,e.g. cis-(diaminodichloro)platinum(II), cisplatin, to oligonucleotides provides a basis of humnan cancer therapy.The platinum complex exhibits a unique dissociation behavior upon tandem mass spectrometric investigation.
Fundamental mechanistic aspects of the gas-phase dissociation of oligonucleotides and their analogues are in the focus of the mass spectrometry group at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
