Reversing the more usual trend of replicating transition metal chemistry with main group compounds, this work elaborates the applications of the new earth-abundant d-block amides Fe(TMP)₂ and Co(TMP)₂ in deprotonative metalation chemistry, a field dominated by highly polar s-block amides such as LiTMP (TMP=2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide).
