Photoinduced Asymmetric Charge Trapping Stabilizes a
Charge-Separated State

Asymmetric charge trapping in a symmetric tetraazapyrene-fused bis(tetrathiafulvalene) conjugate TTF-TAP-TTF leads to a significant stabilization of the charge-separated state of a few ns, which contrasts strongly with the asymmetric TAP-TTF where rapid charge recombination occurs within 2 ps.

This work was carried out in the group of PD Dr. Shi-Xia Liu in collaboration with the groups of Prof. Dr. Thomas Feurer, Prof. Dr. Andrea Cannizzo (from the Institute of Applied Physics, University of Bern) and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Aschauer (from the Department of Chemistry and Physics of Materials, Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg).
