New Channel Forming Host Material

A new triazine, synthesized by a catalytic cyclization reaction, forms two kinds of channels: one where guest molecules are aligned and one where toluene is entering perpendicular to the channel direction.
This example shows, that design of even simple supramolecular solid state structures bears many surprises, i.e. unpredictable packings.
