On-Surface Synthesis and Characterization of Triply Fused Porphyrin-Graphene Nanoribbon Hybrids

The covalent fusion of a graphene nanoribbon with porphyrins through a surface-assisted synthesis, the characterization of the atomically precise structure of the hybrid by bond-resolved scanning tunneling microscopy and noncontact atomic force microscopy, and the investigation of its electronic properties by scanning tunneling spectroscopy in combination with DFT calculations was a collaboration project between Empa Dübendorf, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and DCB.
