Efficient Cell-Free Translation from Diverse Human Cell Types

Cell-free translation:

  • A technique to produce proteins outside of living cells using cell extracts
  • Facilitates protein synthesis research, synthetic biology, drug discovery, production of toxic proteins

Our innovation:

  • Developed a scalable, efficient method using dual centrifugation from diverse human cell lines
  • Enables cell-type-specific studies of translation and post-translational modifications

Developed in the groups of Prof. Dr. Oliver Mühlemann and PD Dr. Evangelos Karousis.
